Job Description
This role is a mix of technical data analysis and client requirement gathering. It’s similar to a technical BA and will be the bridge between the data team and the business. You will be hands on and responsible for data modelling, data reconciliation on an AWS cloud migration project. You will be developing best practices for data coding to ensure consistency within the system (greenfield).

- Understanding and defining the scope of business requirements, questions and problems to translate into long-term data solutions
- Evaluating existing data systems to identify trends, patterns and insights
- Working with the development team to create conceptual data models and data flows
- Reviewing modifications of existing systems for cross-compatibility
- Implementing data strategies and developing physical data models
- Updating and optimising local and metadata models
- Evaluating implemented data systems for variances, discrepancies, and efficiency
- Troubleshooting and optimising data systems
- Building in data quality checks and developing best practices for data coding to ensure accurate reporting of structured, semi-structured and unstructured data
- Developing sustainable, accurate, and impactful reporting on key performance indicators or OKRs
- Presenting key insights to stakeholders across the business in ways that are easy to understand
- Effective stakeholder management and conflict resolution
- Experience driving requirements and modelling workshops (business scorecards, exposure to finance and sales metrics)
- Identification of data sources and channels to data consumers (data discovery, data mapping) - Identification of data anomalies (gap analysis)
- Determination of data relationships (data modelling, regression analysis, time series analysis, factor analysis, discriminant analysis)
- Inference and interpretation (visualisation, communication and presentation skills)
- Documentation and collaboration (i.e. Jira, Confluence, Miro, LucidChart)
- Knowledge of relational SQL and NoSQL databases i.e. PostgreSQL, Cassandra, MongoDB, DynamoDB
- Experience with collaborating with data engineering personnel on implementing AWS, Azure or Snowflake solutions especially delivering Kimball or DV2.0 based managed data warehouses (i.e. AWS Redshift) and data platforms for medium to large enterprises.
- Awareness of ETL frameworks or tools and data workflows (Desirable)
- Applying data quality and governance frameworks (DAMA DMBOK) for data warehouse environments.
- Extensive experience with reporting and data visualisation tools including Tableau and PowerBI (essential).
- Languages: SQL (essential) with R and/or Python a significant advantage. Extensive experience with scripts such as JSONd. Advantageous if familiar with tools such as PopSQL, DBeaver and DataGrip for collaborative SQL editing, querying and cataloging.
